Mahakumbh or Kumbh mela to start from today and will continue till 26 February 2025 were large people gathering takes place in Prayagraj, UP, India. This mela happens after 12 years and is ranked in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Devotees from all around the world will come here to take Holy dip in Ganaga-Yamuna-Saraswati confluence in Prayagraj, Haridwar(Ganga), Nasik(Godavari), Ujjain(Shipra). Also the fifth Location of Bansberia(Tribeni Sangam) was also revived in 2022. This Mahakumbh is special as it is being held after 144 years as the name MahaKumbh symbolizes this special occurrence.
According to Hinduism, at time of Samundra Manthan when Amrit was extract as the final output of the manthan along with God of Medicine Dhanvantari and as the result of rift between Gods and Asuras drops of Amrit fell into certain location in the land and that locations are Haridwar, Nasik , Ujjain, Prayagraj as these locations are the points were Mahakumbh is celebrated . People believe that by taking the holy dip in the holy river Sangam they will gets rid of the sins they have committed knowingly or unknowingly. Mahakumbh have a very deep meaning in Indian History as it is widely regarded as the Biggest Crowd Gathering in the whole world. Many Saints from Himalaya’s also come to participate in the Kumbh. People from around the world visit the Mahakumbh as the holy Festival begins. Mahakumbh Celebrated the rich Cultural heritage of our Country in front of the World.
