Mahashasti to be celebrated today. It is celebrated on the sixth Day of Navratri that is today. Today, the Goddess Durga eyes will be opened and the idol will be worshipped from today till the Dashmi. Goddess Katyayani is worshipped today. According to Hinduism, Goddess Katyayani is known as the Slayer of the Demon Shape Shifting King Mahishasura. Goddess Katyayani is also a form in Nav Durga.
In this day Goddess Durga is welcomed and rituals are performed like Bodhana: Involves rites to awaken and welcome the goddess to be a guest. This day celebrates feminism in women as term “Shakti “is viewed as primal factor which is present inside of each and every individual that requires the feeling of empowerment.
In Bengali Tradition , this puja holds a great value ; one can say it is the most important festival of West Bengal. So, I wish you all Happy Maha Shasti.
