Holi Celebrated Today

Holi is the festival of colors which is celebrated  all across India. It symbolizes the divine love of Lord Krishna and Devi Radha and this day marks the victory of  good over evil. This festival is celebrated in Falgun Purnima in the month of March (Spring Season). This Festival is very much popular in parts of Asian Countries and Western countries where Indians are present.

Legend About Holi

It is  a sacred festival of Hindus as it marks the end of evil as it is stated that Holika , the sister of Demon king Hrishnayakasyapu was killed a day before Holi when she sat in fire to kill  with his brother’s son Prahalad who was a great Vishnu Devotee. She sat on fire with her brother’s  son to kill him as she got a boon  from Lord Brahma that fire can’t kill her but instead when she sat in fire with Prahalad,  she got burned alive and no harm was caused to Prahalad as her boon back fired as she has used her boon against the truth . Prahalad got saved as he has the truth with him as Lord Vishnu saved him and  from that Holika Dhayan was celebrated on the same day and next day will be celebrated as Holi. It  also marked  the end of Winter  and beginning of Spring .

Significance of Holi

Holi is celebrated through out India  and each region has its different form to celebrate Holi. It’s main  objective is to celebrate it with love and is used to spread prosperity and unity. It is a festival which symbolized eternal  love as  demonstrated by Lord Krishna’s love towards Radha Rani and vice versa. The core objective is Love and to spread it amongst each other.
