Digital Arrest

In Digital Arrest, fraudsters impersonate govt. officials as they try to scam person for money. The fraudsters use video calling through WhatsApp and Skype in order to scam others.  They majorly impersonate officials  from CBI, CID, Income Tax etc. and establish contact by phone call.  The Fraudsters will try to trick individuals by telling them that they are part of enquiry which requires the cooperation and they will try to instigates them to pay amount as the sole motivate is to do financial fraud. Sometimes, the fraudsters say something happens to someone that is known by a person whether he/she is related to them as the victim will fear something might happen to their known person.

The Prime Minister of India also warned us regarding Digital Arrest. In this fraud major sum of money will be asked in the sake of clearing the name or assisting the investigation. Contact establishment to a person is the first step and then other things will be carried out.

Prevention from Digital Arrest

In order prevent in going in Digital Arrest one must be follow the following steps: –

1. Never share your personal details with any one on phone call or by video call
2. Be aware of things that has been asked to you if you are on phone call.
3. Be Vigilant no matter what they say and never do that.
4. If someone gets into digital arrest never share any information or in video call try to instigate the fraudster to show their face in order to get proof
5. Don’t fall under pressure tactics of cyber criminals.
6. Government Agencies do not use platforms like WhatsApp , Skype etc.
